There are SO many new things going on this week! Maybe it's because it's the middle of July and it's hot (at least here in NJ!), which means we're staying in air conditioning as much as possible (and quilting? Please tell me I'm not alone!)

Happenings:

-Not only is my friend Rebecca hosting Christmas in July (tutorials every Monday and lots of prizes), Don't Call Me Betsy is also hosting a Christmas in July, which starts TODAY (7/16) and features 10 Christmas tutorials on 10 different days! Get sewing for the holidays - you know you need to (and I look around my sewing room and think, that's definitely not going to happen yet, haha)!

New Quilt-A-Longs:

-Have I mentioned how completely psyched I am for this QAL?? Probably not... but I am. It starts in September so keep an eye out (I'll be sure to post again when it gets closer):

-At Piles O' Fabric, Alyssa is leading the Totally Groovy QAL (pattern by Emily Cier/Carolina Patchworks) - this is such an amazing (and curvy) pattern - and there are some fabulous prizes! Check it out!!

-Jenna at Sew Happy Geek has posted a sneak peak of her next modern QAL. Looking forward to seeing more of it:

Reminder: July Meeting

Our July meeting will take place this Tuesday night, July 10th, at 7pm at Pennington Quilt Works in Ewing, NJ. You can still RSVP to the meeting HERE (please do!).

At this meeting:

Challenge: finish your embroidery from last meeting, or bring in any hand embroidery you have done.
Discussion: Bring in samples of batting; we will discuss brands and types.

General business, show and tell, and obsession over fabric will inevitably commence.

June Meeting Recap

At our June meeting... (I will add in photos if/when they become available):

General Business
-Talk to Jessica Levitt if you would like to teach a 10-30 minute demo/lesson at one of our meetings! You will receive a $10 gift card to Pennington Quilt Works in return.

-The Sewcial was successful - looking for more times/places in the future.

-The Denyse Schmidt lecture and workshops were very successful - we may have a post on this in the future! You can see some of the pictures in our flickr group (link on sidebar).

-Keep updated with BigTent! All of our events, meetin minutes, etc. are posted there, and you can use the message board.

-Finally, keep up to date with our blog! Modern Mondays will continue but will be postponed for this week due to my being on vacation.



Upcoming Events
-July meeting: 7/10 at PQW @ 7pm. RSVP to the July meeting HERE.
-August meeting: 8/14
-Quilters Take Manhattan - 9/15
-Possible Kaffe Fasset workshop on 10/7 (my wedding date! hehe. Guess I can't come though!).



The Meeting
-Members of the guild swapped pouches of all sizes and colors.

-Robin gave us a tutorial and practice with hand embroidery. The challenge for July is to finish that or bring in any hand embroidery you have done.

-For July meeting: bring in samples of batting; we will discuss brands and types.
