August Bee Block - "Raw Edges"

BOOM! GIVE WAY! DIFFERENT OPTIONS FOR THIS BLOCK ARE ON THE WAY!

If you follow the directions to this block as originally written you will get just what the title says, "Raw Edges."

It will look something like this.

Having raw edges on any block does not sit well with me personally.  If it doesn't with you I would suggest using a form of applique; either raw edge interface or turned.

BUT WAIT! If you want to kick up your skills a notch why not inset both circles? Pile of Fabric has a great tutorial and you can download the PDF here. With this technique the outer circle (focal fabric) will finish at an 8" circle and the patchwork at 6.5" (These are the template measurements you will use for the freezer paper.)

Let my pain be your gain in obtaining the correct sized circle templates.

After having no success with my thrifty compass (I found no joy in this object after using it so it got tossed.) I took to the internet and found a great template here at scientificseamstress.com

Much better!

Here is where it gets to be more arts and crafts than quilt sewing but the end result is worth it.  Feel free to email me directly with any questions!
