Our May 8th meeting was a huge success! (sorry for the slight lateness!)

Announcements:
-Please stay up to date with our BigTent group - all of our RSVPs, meeting minutes, board topics, and announcements are posted there (recaps and announcements posted here as well)!
-See our flickr page for all meeting pictures, including those from May that are not included in this post.

Upcoming Dates:
  • Saturday, June 9 - June Sewcial - all day sewing with your friendly CJMQG members :) info and RSVP
  • Tuesday, June 12 - June Meeting, Pennington Quilt Works - 7-9 PM - RSVP
  • See previous blog post for info on the Denyse Schmidt lecture and workshop (June 22 and 24).
  • September 15 - FIT will host Quilters Take Manhattan.

The meeting:

-I was unable to be present at the meeting, but I am going off of the minutes and the accounts of fellow members! We started off by talking about when the last time we sewed was, and what we had been making. An interesting question for sure, because I'm prepared to bet that many people had sewn that weekend, and probably even that day!

-Next, we shared our favorite quilting books. I am told that there was a mixture of both modern and traditional books, and that many titles were mentioned and passed around. Definitely educational!

-For this month's last month's challenge, members had to create something with their half square triangles (HSTs), which were swapped and discussed at the April meeting. The second challenge was to make a mini quilt (so, technically, you could fulfill both challenge with a HST mini quilt :) )

Here are some pictures from the challenge:

June Meeting:
-Swap: A pouch of any size, or a small bag. Can't wait to see these!
-Robin Buscemi will be teaching embroidery - PLEASE RSVP to the meeting so that there are enough kits (you do not have to bring supplies).

Yay! See you June 12! And watch out for a special post on Monday...
