June Meeting Recap

At this meeting:

Swap: We swapped selvage pillow cases (after our lesson with Janneke in May)! Members had to use selvages in some way to make an 18" x 18" (standard size) pillow case. Here are the makers with their makes before the random swap (from left to right: Kim, Kathy, Jess S., Janneke, and Janet).

And afterwards!

Demo: VP Jessica Levitt gave us an informative bias strip applique lesson, as per member request. Thank you, Jess!

Members showed off their Guild Quilt-a-long blocks for the month of June (and Elaine, second from right, changed up the middle!). Kathy (first on left) even finished her July block!

I-spy charm swap! Can't wait to see what you make!

Challenge: Jamee (above) and Janneke brought in the first official mini quilt finishes for the Cloud 9 Cirrus Solids Mini Quilt Challenge! Jamee outlined her shapes in gold thread and Janneke appliqued some cute birds. All the rest will be photographed at our August meeting (when they are due). Great job, ladies!

Bee - House blocks for the queen bee this month:

AND two finished CJMQG bee quilts! Wow! It was so great to see these in person. Keep bringing them in as you finish them, bee members!

Janneke's finished quilt top. Look at that border, too!

Liz's finished quilt. It's a giant house! It was fun to search out everyone's blocks.

Show and Tell: LOTS of quilts this meeting!

Neva showed off her Peek block mini quilt (pattern by our recent teaching guest Melanie Tuazon) and the quilt for her office (below). Besides the beautiful quilts, these are awesome pictures of you, Neva!

Janet's modern quilts! She does amazing quilting, too!

Christina finished this stunning scrappy quilt in an unconventional color scheme. I think we can all agree that it is perfect!

Helen's quilting really adds another layer to her design!

One of our visitors shared this purple beauty!

Sonia was excited to show off her tunic from Camp Stitchalot!

Jess S. finished this Misdirection quilt for Jess of the Elven Garden (pattern coming soon) and an improvisational plus block baby quilt. I can't wait to gift it this week!

And, last but not least, Jess L. made this tablerunner for her son's teacher. It's so pretty all quilted up, too (you can see it on Instagram - @jtlevitt)!

Thanks to this meeting's photographers, Cala and Neva.

That's all, folks! See you at the July Potluck (no official meeting until August)!

"Pixels" - July block, CJMQG QAL

LET'S GET FIRED UP
GET ROUGH, GET TOUGH, GET MEAN
LET'S GET FIRED UP
AND TACKLE THE JULY BLOCK!

This is another great block to perfect your scant 1/4" seam allowance!

Masking tape marked with pen kept all the fabric pieces organized prior to piecing. Once the individual blocks were sewn they were laid out on a small design wall before sewn together.

My block came out a bit on the larger side and needed a trim.  Another guild member said hers came out to the correct size. What will your experience be?

Even though there is no formal guild meeting in July, a post for the August block will be sent during the second week in July.  Please bring your July and August blocks to the August meeting.
