May Meeting Recap

At this meeting:

-We swapped low volume mug rugs! Many of our members swapped 6" x 10" bricks of low volume fabric in April, and now we are using them. Beautiful! Great participation, everyone!

-We started the Cloud 9 Cirrus Solids Mini Quilt Challenge, which is sponsored by Cloud 9 Fabrics. All information was given at the meeting and later sent out in our guild newsletter. Mini quilts are due at the August meeting - you have all summer! Can't wait to see what you make, and thank you to Cloud 9!

Members received 6 fat eighths of solids. The bundle below will be a prize in our WIP It Up contest in January!

-The Cloth Pocket, a modern fabric shop in Austin, Texas, sponsored our meeting. Thank you for sending door prizes! Amy and Felix were so excited to win! Don't forget that this shop offers a 20% discount for MQG members - email me for the code.

-Janneke taught us how to sew selvages and showed off some of her beautiful makes. Thank you for the informative and entertaining presentation, Janneke!

Kathy also brought a selvage quilt to share. So much inspiration!

-Our next bee has filled up! We also shared more house blocks for this month's queen bee:

-We shared our May Quilt-A-Long blocks! Check out the post Neva wrote up for June here.

-Show and Tell:

The Denyse Schmidt Modern Solids Trunk Show was visiting Pennington Quiltworks! We had the pleasure of staring at these lovelies throughout the meeting.

Tatiana and Sonia are so cute with the bags they made at Mid-Atlantic Mod retreat.

Lee's beautifully bold snowball quilt.

Elaine brought her second place Cascade Fabric Challenge quilt for a second look!

Jess S. shared her finished Lizzy House mini quilt swap quilt. It will be off in the mail very soon!

Neva finished her Modern Mondays quilt from last year's guild QAL. Great job Neva - the quilting is stunning!

Beth shared her lovely pineapple block from a workshop with the North Jersey MQG and Heather Jones.

Jamee made this beautiful quilt for a little girl!

See you in June!
