This month, our meeting was at Pennington Quilt Works. It began with a talk from guest speaker Chawne Kimber of Completely Cauchy. She spoke about her personal history as a quilter and showed us several quilts spanning that time.
Then the regular meeting agenda began.. The blocks for our QuiltCon Charity Quilt have started rolling in. If you intend to make one (or more) they're due in October! Details are available on Bigtent or from Lindsay if you need them.
Next was this month's Modern Free Motion Quilting Quilt-A-Long. The theme was pebbles and stones.
The Guild Bee sewed Christmas tree blocks for Maureen.
Then Show and Tell, and lots of it!
A special subset of Show and Tell: the students from Janet's Bag Making Boot Camp class and their bags!

2018 Pantone Color of the Year Challenge
We had such a great time with the Pantone Color of the Year Challenge last year that we decided to do it again with this year's choice, Ultraviolet! The Sewing Room in Doylestown, PA generously donated a bolt of Kona to our guild to use. Participants received a fat quarter cut and were asked to make an 18x18" modern quilt. Here are the results..
So many quilts! Amazing job, everyone!!

Modern FMQ QAL: September
This is the second to last month of monthly FMQ challenges - then it will be time to put your quilt together (click here to see the related blog post!). September's theme is "pebbles" - please bring your quilt sandwiches to the Sept. 12 meeting and share for a chance to win the monthly prize! You can also share your progress with the hashtags #modernfmqqal and #cjmqg.
Pebbles are an intermediate free motion quilting motif. At this point, if you've been practicing all year, you should be more than prepared to handle pebbles. Watch the tension on your machine; test a bit first before you start quilting your quilt sandwiches. Pebbles tend to be the worst tension-wise for me, but they are by far my favorite motif. :)
