On Wednesday, May 18, One Simple Wish received quilts from the Central Jersey Modern Quilt Guild. Stephanie accepted the quilts from Janneke to place in their new updated One Simple Wish World and are ready to be used at the offical opening on June 4th. More quilts were stored to be given to foster kids on their way to new homes.

May Meeting Recap
Our May meeting began with announcements of some upcoming events, including the June sewcial and meeting and the fall retreat at Hyatt House. Members should look on BigTent for more information about the events and invitations to join.
A new bee with medium/large, simple blocks began this month, so next month we'll have photos to share of the first round. Thanks to Michele for organizing the bee.
Bee: Participants brought in Neva's blocks, which were based on Elizabeth Hartman's modern mosaic. Kristina handed out her packets for next month.
Patchwork City Quilt-A-Long: Blocks for this month
Member Spotlight: Jamee brought in six quilts and described her journey as a quilter. She talked about the different things she has explored, and says she has made "probably 200" quilts at this point. Wow!
Two more traditional quilts.
Two contemporary style quilts.
A modern style galaxy quilt Jamee made for her husband (a space geek) and the back.
Another modern quilt from the Paper Lanterns quilt pattern.
Challenge: Bring in quilted (but not necessarily finished) churn dash blocks we made for the April meeting.
Demo: Nicole gave a demo on how to do machine binding with glue basting.
Show and Tell:
Janet showed a horse show ribbon quilt, and a remake of her open space rainbow mini from Mid Atlantic Mod. The open spaces are so cool!
Susan showed a quarter circle sketch in stripes, following a class she took. Nicole showed her finished queen size quilt-as-you-go project, which featured intricate free motion quilting around the batik fabric.
Laura B won the progressive quilt top from this year's Mid Atlantic Mod retreat. Jess L worked on it, helping coordinate and connect all the different blocks. Jess also showed a finished progressive quilt from the 2015 Mid Atlantic Mod retreat.
Jess S showed her new design, the Star Light, Star Dark quilt. She'll be offering it as a quilt-a-long on her blog over the summer. She also showed her epic medallion quilt, finished after two years of work!
Mary showed a table runner absolutely covered in appliquéd circles. Lori made a wallhanging for a friend, whose late mother was a quilter, and the fabrics are from the stash she left behind.
Finally, Janneke showed this small quilt she made from orphan blocks for the charity One Simple Wish.
Next meeting will be June 14. Some things to look forward to:
Swap: modern paper pieced mug rug, 6x6" to 6x12"
Meg will give a talk on digital printing in the fabric industry
A challenge will be announced to be finished for the August meeting
