February Meeting Recap

Thanks for coming out to our February meeting on Valentine's Day! It was a holiday, so our attendance wasn't as much as the January meeting - but that's okay - we hope to see everyone on March 13 for our next meeting!

To start off, we went around and shared what our "specialties" are in quilting. This served as an icebreaker. Some of those mentioned were:  colors and combinations, picture quilts, hand appliqué, Adobe Photoshop designed quilts, baby quilts, appliqué, process versus product, dying fabric, shibori, piecing, color, challenging, raw edge appliqué, dresses, and collecting fabric (taken from the minutes, which can be found on BigTent).

Through majority vote, we passed our chapter's bylaws (see our BigTent group in the downloads section if you care to read them).

We swapped valentines. Those who wanted to make something out of fabric could bring it to the meeting and be chosen at random to receive someone else's creation. They all look so pretty together, don't you think?

Our activity for the meeting was sharing our favorite notions and tools, many of which could be found in Pennington Quilt Works itself!

Finally, we had show and tell. Here are some of the pictures; you can see all those taken at the meeting on the BigTent group.

*Check out the minutes for announcements of upcoming events outside the guild.

March meeting:

Challenge - Choose 1 color and 1 neutral to create a monochromatic quilt, no size requirements. It is up to your interpretation.
Swap – Bring a quart zip lock bag with quality quilt fabric - at least 2” x 2” for each scrap.
